Melanie English, PhD, MSW is a highly experienced parenting evaluator, Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) and licensed clinical psychologist. She has a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in developmental psychology. Dr. English has also served as an expert witness, mediator and risk assessor.

In addition to over 10 years with King County Superior Court Family Court Services as a parenting evaluator, Dr. English has also provided therapeutic and crisis  services, home study reports for national and international cases, and adoption confirmation and consent. She has taught seminars and workshops for the King County Superior Court Mandatory Parenting Seminar, “What About the Children?” and continuing legal education for the King County Department of Judicial Administration, King County Family Law CASA, King County Family Court Services, the National Business Institute, the King County Bar Association, and the Washington State Bar Association. She has provided training in community mental health, for Seattle Children’s Hospital, the King County Title 26 Guardian Ad Litem training, the Washington Correctional Center for Women and the Washington Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (WA-AFCC).

Dr. English is a frequent contributor to publications on parenting and co-parenting offering input to Health.com, Very Well Family, The Week, Fatherly, She Knows, Thriveworks, Parent Herald and the Desert News National Edition.

Dr. English is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) as well as the Washington Chapter of AFCC, where she served on the Board of Directors as president and secretary. Dr. English is also a Board member of King County Family Law CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Psychology-Law Society (AP-LS), the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (APA Division 2) and the Society for Couple and Family Psychology (APA Division 43).
